Gratitude seems to be a buzz word these days; however, it is a very powerful concept. Gratitude is defined as: the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. The Bible says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7)
We need to have an "attitude of gratitude" or should I say, having a heart of gratitude will change your attitude. It is so important to be thankful for what you have and not to dwell on what you don't have. If you look on social media, it looks like everyone is getting whatever they want. They're happy, they have awesome friends, they go here and there all the time. It seems like cost is not an issue. But pictures can be deceiving. If seeing pictures on social media make you feel insecure, ugly, and worthless, then, you need to stop comparing your life to what you see. You have worth and value. You have a purpose that no one on this Earth can fulfill; but, you!! You need to keep your mind dwelling on a positive state and not negative. "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things." (Philippians 4:8, NIV) I am very grateful to have been given an opportunity to have two book signings at the Ballet Theater of Dover performances at Dover High School, Dover, Delaware. My book, The Tortoise Effect, went to #1 Hot New Release in its category within two weeks of being released in February, 2021. Thank you, Mrs. Emmons, for all of your support through the years of dancing at your studio as well as when I was writing my book. I am also grateful that people are contacting me and telling me how much the book has helped them in their present situation. It makes my heart happy to hear that I am helping so many people deal with the pain in their lives. God definitely gets the Honor, Glory and Praise. While at the first book signing, the Podcast of, "Over the Rims Of Mugs," with Denise Harper was published for the community to hear at The Bridge, 88.7, website. I had given a copy of my book to the radio station upon its release in February and requested their feedback. Denise asked she could schedule an interview with me about my book in May, 2021. I was so excited, thankful and grateful that someone wanted to hear my story. My cup is truly running over for the opportunities that have really fallen into my lap. I am so honored to be the vessel that God is using to help people overcome their pain while using the strategies that are outlined in my book! Who knew, right? God using my experience with pain to help others through their pain. I am thankful to God for allowing me to go through this. My pain was not in vain! What are you grateful for today? List three things that you are grateful for right now on a piece of paper and put the paper in a place where you can see it throughout the day. Do this exercise daily to see how it will change your perspective in your life. Take baby steps towards having a grateful heart. God Bless You! Juanita
